Is This You?

Who Is This For?

Who This Is For:

  • You own a healthcare or care-service practice in Texas doing $1 million or more a year.
  • Your practice is a medical, dental, optometry, chiropractic, therapy, wellness or home-care business, owned by you or by you and your spouse.
  • Every April brings a tax bill you weren't ready for, because nobody planned ahead with you.
  • Your preparer files from what already happened, and you only hear from them at tax time.
  • Your books are behind, so decisions about cash, hiring and growth feel like guesses.
  • Your tax preparer, bookkeeper and payroll sit with different providers, and none of them talk to each other.

This Is Not For:

  • Practices doing under $1 million a year.
  • Owners who only want a return prepared each spring.
  • Anyone who wants to pay zero tax, hide money offshore or write off toys.
  • W-2 employees and investors who don't own a practice.

100% Done-For-You

Here's Everything We Do For You

How Powell United handles the tax, books and CFO work for your practice, all year round.

We Go Through Your Returns First

Before you commit to anything, we go through your returns and show you where the savings should come from for a practice like yours, with an estimated range beside each one.

We Fix Your Structure And Pay

We set up or restructure your practice's entity and tax election, then set what you pay yourself, document why, and look at that number again every year.

We Plan Before The Year Closes

We time income and expenses, size your retirement contributions and capture the deductions that fit your practice during the year, because once the year closes, those chances are gone.

We Keep Your Books And Payroll

We set up QuickBooks Online and ADP payroll, connect your bank, card and payroll feeds, and reconcile your books every month so your numbers are always current.

We File Your Returns And Estimates

Matthew, an IRS Enrolled Agent, prepares your business and personal returns, and we work out each quarterly estimated payment from up-to-date books instead of a rough guess.

A Virtual CFO On Your Side

We handle cash flow forecasting, budgeting, KPIs and owner distribution strategy from the books we already keep, so big moves like hiring or buying equipment rest on real numbers.

On The Record

Does It Actually Work?

“
I was blind, but now I see. I'm an emergency physician and I have thrown away a tantamount of money needlessly because I was unaware and never told by any previous supposedly top-tier accountants or firms about significant ways to manage my business. ... After only one consultation with Matthew my financial situation completely transformed in a very good way. No other accountant has ever helped me like him.

I got into this to help kids, not to become a finance person. Matthew keeps my books clean, tells me ahead of time what my taxes are going to look like, and explains the plan in a way I actually understand. Having one person who sees the practice and my family's future together ... has taken an enormous weight off me.

Still On The Fence?

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to replace my current tax preparer?+
No. If your preparer wants to keep filing, they can, and we coordinate with them. Filing what already happened and planning while the year is still open are two different jobs. If you'd rather have one team on tax, books and finance for the practice, we can take all of it on.
Why hasn't my preparer brought any of this up?+
Most preparers aren't doing anything wrong. Their job is compliance: file the return right and on time, from what already happened. By the time you're filing, the year is closed and almost every chance to lower the bill is gone, so nobody was on your side of the table while it was still open.
Is this legal, and is it going to get me audited?+
This isn't the online version of tax planning, so there are no zero-tax schemes, offshore accounts or write-offs for toys. We tie every strategy to documentation that holds up if anyone asks, and if a move only works on paper, it stays out. No one can promise you'll never get a letter, but if you do, every number has a document behind it and the same team that put it in place answers it.
How much does it cost?+
We have three service levels, Foundation, Growth and Stewardship CFO, priced to the size and complexity of your practice rather than by the hour. Most engagements are a flat monthly fee, so there are no surprise invoices. You'll get the exact number up front on the strategy call.
Is it too late to do anything for this year?+
The moves that change this year's taxes have to be made before December 31st, and the savings show up when that return is filed. The sooner we see your numbers, the more of those moves are still open for this year.
Do I have to be in Houston to work with you?+
No. We're based in the Clear Lake area of Houston and work with practice owners across Texas. Everything from onboarding to monthly reviews works the same whether you're down the street or across the state.
Can you handle my personal taxes too?+
Yes. Matthew prepares business and personal returns, so the practice and your own return are planned together. If you want help with estate planning, life insurance or retirement, we can coordinate with our sister firm, Legacy Stewards, but that's optional and never required.
What happens on the strategy call?+
We pull up your practice's numbers and walk through where the savings are likely to come from, with an estimated range beside each one and how we'd put each one in place for you. If the numbers clear $100,000 in estimated tax savings, you'll hear exactly what happens next. If they don't, Matthew will tell you straight and point you to what would actually help. If your spouse files jointly with you, or your current tax person wants to join, bring them along.
One Last Step

Ready To See What Your Practice Could Keep This Year?

On the strategy call, Matthew walks through your practice's numbers and shows where the savings are likely to come from, with an estimated range beside each one. If they don't reach $100,000, he'll tell you straight.
